Absolutely! While gundog training was originally developed for breeds such as Labradors, Spaniels and Retrievers, the skills are beneficial for almost any dog.

Recall, focus, impulse control, engagement, retrieving, scent work and calmness are all valuable life skills, regardless of breed. Every session is tailored to the individual dog, taking into account their personality, abilities and what they enjoy most.

Whether you have a Collie, Poodle, Terrier, mixed breed or a traditional gundog, our aim is the same - to build a stronger relationship, provide meaningful mental enrichment and have plenty of fun along the way.

Ramble & Retrieve focuses on building skills, confidence and communication through positive reinforcement training. While we can help with areas such as focus, recall, engagement, calmness and everyday training challenges, we do not offer behavioural consultations or work with complex behavioural issues.

If your dog is experiencing significant challenges such as aggression, fear, anxiety or reactivity, we recommend seeking support from a qualified behaviour professional who specialises in those areas. We’re always happy to point you in the right direction where we can.

Please come prepared with plenty of your dog’s favourite treats, a toy they love, and any equipment you regularly use or would like to work with, such as dummies for gundog sessions.

We ask that all training is carried out using kind, positive reinforcement methods, so please do not bring slip leads, prong collars, or aversive training equipment to sessions.

If you’re unsure what equipment you need, don’t worry, we’re always happy to advise and help you find what works best for you and your dog.

Once you get in touch, we’ll have a chat about you, your dog and what you’d like to achieve from training. This helps us understand your goals and make sure we’re the right fit for you and your dog.

From there, we’ll arrange your session and send over any information you need before we get started. Whether you’re preparing for a new puppy, building everyday skills or exploring gundog training, we’ll make sure you feel supported from the very beginning.
