I believe dogs are here to enrich our lives, and it's only fair that we enrich theirs too.

My name is Rachel, the face behind Ramble & Retrieve.

I truly believe that the best relationships with our dogs are built on partnership, not control. My aim isn't to create a dog that obeys out of fear or pressure, but one that wants to work with you because they feel safe, understood, and valued.

I'm definitely the cliché "grew up with dogs" person. As a child, I was always found rolling around on the floor with my grandparents' Labradors or sharing my ice cream with my childhood Springer Spaniel, Mollie. Dogs have always been a huge part of my life, but it wasn't until I had my own dogs that I truly discovered my passion for behaviour and training.

My Labrador taught me all about lead pulling and enthusiasm that outweighed listening, while my fear-reactive Springer Spaniel completely changed the way I viewed dog training. Like many owners, I followed advice from people who were considered professionals at the time, only to find the methods made things worse. That experience led me down a very different path.

Today, I practise fear and force free training, using kind, ethical, science-backed methods that prioritise both learning and welfare. My goal is to help dogs feel more confident and owners feel more connected to their dogs.

I'm passionate about continuing my education and believe we should never stop learning. I've completed courses with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) and studied the PACT Puppy Complete Puppy Course through the Professional Association of Canine Trainers (PACT). Continuing professional development is something I genuinely enjoy, ensuring I'm always providing the best support possible for the dogs and people I work with. I am also a member of the Dog Trainer School.

Whether you're welcoming a new puppy, navigating behavioural challenges, or simply want to build a stronger relationship with your dog, my focus is always on strengthening the bond between you. When we understand our dogs and work with them rather than against them, living together becomes so much more enjoyable.

If you're looking for a quick fix, I'm probably not the trainer for you.

But if you're looking to build a trusting relationship with your dog, understand them better, and genuinely enjoy your life together, I'd love to help.
